My first book of love poetry, Nuova, was written as an initial draft in 2011 and supervised by Dr. Ashok Mathur of the Center for Innovation in Culture and the Arts in Canada (CiCAC). I am currently in the process of revising/rewriting it for submission and publication. The book deals with my 2008-2011 experiences of sacral love and development as a young poet fueled into a speaker who continually struggles with the immense history of the spirit of romance—one that dates back to figures such as Dante Alighieri for whose similar book of poetics, La Vita Nuova, is the manuscript’s principle model of (re)adaptation. The writing shifts back and forth between a prose narrative and moments of poetry. I am also hoping to finish the rewrite this year to publish it as a short book, and I plan to donate all of the book’s proceeds to a woman’s charity such as V-Day or Canadian Women’s Foundation, to support the wellbeing of women. Investing back in those who inspire love.
